Mike Brown from the Tay District Salmon Fisheries board will be giving an update and information on the PIT TAGGING project on the Tummel which has just started in the last month of so to monitor smolt migration.
Smolts are being trapped during their migration in spring at a point(s) upstream of Pitlochry Dam, to be selected on the basis of being an efficient trapping site(s) and the questions being answered at any given time. Each smolt will be implanted with an individually numbered PIT tag then released to carry on to the sea. Adult salmon will be detected on their return by a PIT tag detector installed in the fish pass at Pitlochry Dam. This is a joint project between Marine Scotland Science (MSS), Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board (TDSFB), Tay Foundation (TF) and SSE.
Steve Keay from the TDSFB will also be giving an update on the Almondbank Hatchery.

Scott MacKenzie will also be attending showing off his latest additions of fly fishing rods and other tackle.

This promises to be a very interesting night, please feel free to come along but please contact MIKE HAY for numbers.
